A seashells or sea shell, also known simply as a shell, is a hard, protective outer layer usually created by an animal that lives in the sea. A Sea-shell / She’ll is a Hard, Protective layer which is Created by an Animal known as Molluscs who lives in the sea Clams, Pips, Mussels, Oysters are all different Molluscs, Humans have used Sea-shells for different purposes, Various animals produces Shells, such as :- Crab, Turtles, Snails etc.
How does a shell builds :- After the arrival of tiny baby Molluscs, Layer after Layer they on its own It starts producing it’s own Shell. For this They use the chemicals and salt from the sea such as :- Calcium, Carbonate along with this they use another important things from their own bodies such as :- Proteins which helps them building their Shell fast. As they process these materials, they secrete calcium carbonate, which hardens on the outside of their bodies and begins to form a hard outer shell.
It uses proteins to the First layer and completes the process by filing cans. Mantel which is a Part of Mollusc’s body is responsible for building. Although its shell is attached to it, it’s not part of the living body of a mollusc. This is because the shell is formed from minerals, not mollusc cells. As molluscs continue to excrete calcium carbonate, their shells continue to grow. When a mollusc dies, it leaves its shell behind for you to find along the sea shore.
There are many different types of molluscs. Moreover, different seas around the world offer molluscs all sorts of different diets. The different types of molluscs eating different types of diets explain the incredible variety of sea shells that can be seen on the shores of seas around the world.

The colour and shape of a seashell depends upon its diet . Whenever, the diet of the molluscs changes Different spots, lines starts appearing on the shell. Along with it Different colour pigments too helps in making different types of shells. Therefore, its colour helps in determining its function. Each shell is an individual shell, It all depends on its Environment, Food consumption, Climate, the molluscs own heredity all these plays an important part in its Final formation.
The shell’s inner layer is made mostly of calcium carbonate. The other two layers are made of conchiolin and calcite. A liquid form of calcium is found in the molluscs’ blood and this is used to form calcium carbonate crystals. The outer organ of the mollusc deposits sheets of the crystals. The crystals vary in shape and orientation, and each layer that is formed looks different.

Currently, Cowry shells are mainly functioned at certain places like China, India, and In the Arabian peninsula. Till date They are used as Currency in Papua New Guinea Though they are only used as a Form of Artefacts as a means of Respecting ancient customs.
